Construction Management Services for the Design Build (DB) to rehabilitate and improve a quarter mile (0.25 miles) long section of State Highway Nawiliwili Road (H58) in the vicinity of Kukui Grove Shopping & Business Center from Kaumualii Highway (H50) to Kanani Street. The project included the conversion of an existing asphalt concrete (AC) black top roadway to a 4-lane Portland cement concrete pavement (PCCP) with signalized intersections for crossway traffic at Pikake Street and Haleko Road. Roadway widening improvements included the addition of 5-foot wide bikeways and 8-foot wide pedestrian sidewalks along both highway shoulders. Other improvements included a modernized signalization of existing intersections that provide dedicated left-turn lanes for smoother and safer vehicle traffic flow and strategically placed audible pedestrian-friendly ADA crossing devices. Buried systems that enhanced the improvement project included underground 24-inch diameter stormwater drainline systems with catch basins, drain inlets, and drain manholes; direct-buried traffic signal interconnect; concrete-encased traffic signal ductbanks at 3 intersections; and extending the below-ground exterior highway light system from Pikake Street to Kanani Street. Where feasible, grass medians were replaced with concrete medians.
