The improvements to the ferry system involved repairing the existing loading dock and demolishing the existing administration building to build a new one that is two stories and 5,320 sf. Improvements also consisted of the installation of new electrical infrastructure and street lights, water mains and fire hydrants, telephone utilities, a sewage pump-out at the loading dock, a new sewer pump station and force mains, and the closure of a large capacity cesspool. The existing asphalt roadway and parking lot areas were replaced with new concrete pavement, and a new comfort station and overflow parking area were constructed. The project also included the replacement of the badly deteriorated North catwalk with a new aluminum pier, and installation of modular power pedestals.
The project received an award from APWA.
