Construction Management Services for the removal and replacement of the existing perimeter security fence and construct a 2.1 mile long by 15-foot wide asphalt concrete (AC) roadway along the eastern boundary of Lihue Airport in the vicinity of Runway 17-35. The project included the replacement of existing roadway with new asphalt concrete (AC) black top roadway adjacent to the new perimeter security fence. Perimeter fence work included the removal of approximately 11,200 lineal feet of perimeter fencing (5-foot high barbed wire and 5-foot high wooden boundary fences). The old fence was replaced with new 6,120 LF 6-foot high chain link metal fence and new 5,080 LF 8-foot high extruded polyvinylchloride (PVC) non-metallic fence.
Other major improvements included installation of underground 36-inch diameter reinforced concrete pipe storm water drain systems with reinforced concrete headwall inlets and outlets at five different roadway crossings along the perimeter road route and clearing a 25-foot wide security clear zone outside the perimeter fence from one end of the airport runway to the other end where feasible.
