Architectural/Engineering Design services to provide a new locker room/shower facility for the Kahuku Girls’ athletic program and is funded by Title IX. Currently, female athletes at the school lack a dedicated shower and locker facility and are forced to use various buildings throughout the campus. This new building will provide a much needed space in close proximity to the athletic facilities. Designed to accommodate 60 students, the program includes a coach’s office, locker/shower/toilet, meeting area, drying room, shower room, equipment storage room, shower booth room (plus ADA shower), janitorial closet, towel/supply storage, transgender room, heater room, and laundry room.
Hawaii Collaborative for High Performance Schools (HI-CHPS) will be integrated throughout the project as a DOE guidelines project. The building will be naturally ventilated and the domestic hot water system will incorporate solar hot water panels.
