Construction Management Services for various modifications and upgrades to the Wahiawa Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) including a new ultraviolet treatment system, biofilter, membrane bioreactor and associated facilities, as well as new pumps, tanks, blowers, odor control and SCADA systems. New piping and electrical was also be installed throughout the facility.
Known as the “Backend Project” at the Wahiawa Wastewater Treatment Plant, this project installs a new Membrane Bioreactor System and new UV system along with other upgrades to the plant treatment processes after the headworks. The goal is that the final effluent will receive an R-1 classification from the Department of Health (DOH) and R-1 water will be available to be reused as process water and sold for irrigation use. Piping will be installed from a new R-1 storage tank to the plant entrance for future R-1 water supply. This will be the first MBR system installed at a City and County of Honolulu Wastewater Treatment Plant. Wahiawa WWTP is the oldest treatment facility on Oahu built in 1928 and the only City treatment facility that discharges into a fresh body of water, Lake Wilson.
