Construction Management Services for improvements to the Kailua Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (KRWWTP) to support the new gravity tunnel connecting to the Kane’ohe Wastewater Pretreatment Facility. A new 45 mgd Tunnel Influent Pump Station (TIPS) facility will be constructed within the Tunnel launching shaft. A new Headworks facility will provide screening and grit removal processes in a sound-attenuated, odor-controlled enclosed building. New odor systems will provide foul air treatment for the TIPS, Mini-KIPS, and Headworks facilities. A new 15 mgd capacity mini-Kailua Influent Pump Station (mini-KIPS) will be constructed to direct flows from the Kailua sewer system to the new Headworks. During peak flows, wastewater will be diverted to the Tunnel via a weir overflow system.
Other improvements at the KRWWTP include a new Generator/Medium-Voltage (MV) Electrical Distribution Building. The generator portion of this facility will provide backup power to the TIPS superstructure, odor control facilities, and Headworks. The MV portion of this facility will provide medium-voltage power to the entire KRWWTP.
Additionally there are gravity and force-main connections between all new facilities, a new plant sewer pump station, and new power and SCADA controls connecting all facilities.
SIZE: The TIPS facility will fill the 90-foot diameter, 100 foot deep shaft and extends 35 feet above grade. The Headworks facility is approximately 100 by 110 feet, the Electrical distribution facility is 125 by 65 feet with three 1.5 MW generators and 20,000 gallons of above ground storage.
